Ted Fricano’s father, Cosimo (Gus), was born to Antonio and Phillipena Fricano, both immigrants from Bagheria Sicily, a city located in the province of Palermo, best known for its splendid historic villas and 18th-century palaces.
Gus launched his first Fricano’s Pizza restaurant, soon after purchasing a boarding house in Grand Haven, Michigan in 1949. At that time, no one knew what “P.I.Z.Z.A.” was, but that didn’t last long. The rest was history for the Fricano family, whose thin crust pizza won the hearts of pizza lovers in town and well beyond.
Today, Ted and Jen Fricano, in true entrepreneurial spirit, own seven businesses: Fricano’s Muskegon Lake, Fricano Place, The Hideaway Lounge, The Event Center at Fricano Place, The Fricano’s Sweet Shoppe, TED’S Eatery & Bar in Spring Lake and Fricano’s Manistee River, all under the umbrella of Ted Fricano Adventures. The Fricanos’ children work with their parents, continuing the 75-year-old family’s culinary tradition.
